Two-time Grammy award-winning country singer, Alan Jackson brought his 25-year anniversary Keepin’ It Country Tour to the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego this past Friday, Feb. 20, 2015. This was the third performance of 2015; the short 19-date tour will run through May 2015 ending in Denver, Colorado. Check Date and locations below.
With a blend of honky tonk and a more modern country sound, Jackson has a great mixture of songs to suit both his longtime fans and the newcomers in the stands. Before taking the stage, the video screens in the background played clips of the most notable moments in Alan’s 25-year career; playing snippets of songs that matched the time or story.
Afterward, the band gradually started the night with a cowbell and steel guitar sliding in some country attitude, and kicking things off with the 1990s hit song “Gone Country.” Alan casually strolled onto the stage waving, smiling and mouthing ‘thank you’ until finally picking up his guitar and mic.
Fans throughout the night heard hit after hit song including Alan’s debut song “Here in the Real World.” Alan briefly discussed how he came home from work before the song hit big and his wife announced she was pregnant – only here in the real world. He explained he never had to work a day after that.
Alan performed many of his iconic storytelling hits throughout the night, flicking guitar picks, shaking hands, waving at the audience, and tossing out dozens of t-shirts. During “Little Bitty,” parents holding their little boy and girl were featured on the big video screen and later on Alan handed t-shirts to both the kids.
With over 60 million albums sold worldwide, 35 No. 1 songs and 16 CMA (Country Music Association) Awards, among many other coveted awards Jackson’s career has been a road of success.
Supporting the night were two great emerging country artists. First up was Grammy-nominated singer Brandy Clark followed by Northern California native, Jon Pardi.
Brandy Clark isn’t new to the music industry she’s been a songwriter for many well-known artists in the industry for some time. Brandy has penned many a song for other artists. The most well-known song recorded by other artists includes the No.1 hit song “Better Dig Two” recorded by The Band Perry. Other Artists who have recorded some of Brandy’s songs are Sheryl Crow, Reba McEntire, Kacey Musgraves and Darius Rucker among many others. Brandy was nominated for Best Country Song for “Mama’s Broken Heart” at this year’s 57th GRAMMY Awards
Jon Pardi warmed up the Friday night crowd with songs from his 2014 debut album Write You a Song. The short set included songs like “Up All Night” and “When I’ve Been Drinkin’.” Jon has some spunk on the stage he definitely loves what he is doing and winning fans with every strum of the guitar.
